Too Good for This World Hebrews 11:29-40
Read Hebrews 11:29-31. How was it by faith that the people of Israel walked through the Red Sea? Do you think that these people had been shining examples of faith? Why or why not?
How was faith evident at Jericho? What did the people do? What did God do? Who gets the glory?
Why was Rahab chosen to be in this list? Don’t you think she could be a questionable candidate for this?
Read Hebrews 11:32-35. What is the main point made here by the author’s listing of these people? Many of these people have past experiences that don’t point to faith. How does that make you feel?
How did these people’s faith lead them to victory? What were the ingredients?
Read Hebrews 11:35-38. What things happened to the people listed here? Did they experience victory? How did they keep going?
What does it mean that “they were too good for this world?” How should their life experiences impact us?
Read Hebrews 11:39-40. What did these people receive? What did they not receive?
What did God have in mind? How are we a part of this? When will we reach perfection? How will it be possible?
Prayer
Pray for those who are suffering greatly for their faith as Christians.
Pray that we may live out our faith regardless of the pressures against us.
Thank God that the perfection of Jesus is given to us through faith.
