Our Far​​ Superior High Priest

Hebrews​​ 8:1-13

  • Review Hebrews 4:14;5:9;6:20;7:26-28 – What has the author​​ said about Jesus as High Priest?

  • Why is it important for the author to​​ continue to point out Jesus’ superiority as High Priest to​​ these Jewish Christians?

  • Read Hebrews 8:1-6. ​​ What is the current position of Jesus as High Priest? ​​ What significance does this have?

  • Read Philippians 2:6-7. ​​ Where did Jesus come from when He came to earth? ​​ Why did He come? ​​ Where and how is He ministering now?

  • How is the​​ New Covenant better than the Old? ​​ What was the purpose of the Old?

  • Read Hebrews 8:7-13. ​​ What things does God promise will come in the New Covenant relationship? ​​ How is that true for us today?

  • What parts of the New Covenant are complete for us and what parts are still​​ waiting for complete fulfillment?

  • What are ways that we can still be living in the shadow of the Old Covenant​​ and need to live in the light of the New Covenant?

  • Prayer:

    • Thank Jesus for providing for us what we could not possibly accomplish on our own – a relationship with God.

    • Ask God to keep your mind and heart focused on His presence and not resort to any dependence​​ on your own strength.
