Faithful to the End ​​ ​​​​ Genesis​​ 23

 

  • Maybe some in your group know the pain of the loss of a spouse. ​​ If able and willing, share the experience. ​​ If no one, talk about what it must be like.

 

  • Read Genesis 23

 

  • How did Abraham respond to Sarah’s death? ​​ How is this a model for us?

 

  • How should the grief of a Christian differ from that of a non-Christian when loved ones die? ​​ (Read 1 Thess. 4:13-14)

 

  • How does Abraham describe himself in Genesis 23:4? ​​ Why would he want to purchase a piece of property?

 

  • What does it mean to you to be a stranger and foreigner in this world? ​​ How does it affect the decisions you make from day to day?

 

  • Read 1 Peter 1:17 and 2:11-12. ​​ How can you apply these instructions?

 

  • Pray

    • Pray for those who have recently lost a spouse, or close loved one, that they may grieve appropriately but have hope in Christ.

    • Pray for wisdom in living out our lives as strangers and foreigners.

    • Pray for a heart of love a respect for the people around you who are not in God’s family.

    • Pray that your life will be a testimony that God uses to bring others to Him.
