Responding to Need, Regardless of the Past
Genesis 14
Have you ever had to respond to a need with someone that has taken advantage of you in the past? How does that feel? Why would you respond?
Read Genesis 14
What was the background on the war that resulted in Lot’s capture?
How did Abram respond when he heard of Lot’s capture? Why was it challenging?
How did Abram win the war? What did he do after his victory?
Why would Abram give a tithe to Melchizedek? Read Hebrews 7:1-10
What was the proposal of the King of Sodom? Why did Abram refuse?
What lessons do you learn from this passage that you can apply to your own life?
Prayer
Thank God for not treating us according to our past responses to Him.
Ask God to help you be gracious to others in need, even when there is a past history.
Pray that you would trust God and not power, position, or possessions.
