The Danger of False Teachers ​​ 2 Peter​​ 2:1-11

 

  • ​​ Have you been aware of false teachers in the Christian church? ​​ What were they like? ​​ What things did they do?

  • Read Matthew 24:11. ​​ What did Jesus say would be true until He comes again? ​​ 

  • Read 2 Peter 2:1-3. ​​ How is “the way of truth slandered” by false teachers? ​​ What does Peter say about them?

  • ​​ What do you think is the “sudden destruction” that will come upon them? ​​ Have you seen this happen to false teachers?

  • Read 2 Peter 2:4-8. ​​ What examples does Peter give of God’s judgment? ​​ What has God done with angels that have sinned? ​​ How does His dealing with the supernatural beings give us a sense of protection?

  • What made Noah and Lot righteous and godly? ​​ How did they respond to the wickedness around them? ​​ How does this guide us in our response to a sinful world?

  • Read 2 Peter 2:9-11. ​​ Peter gives a promise that God rescues the godly from trials. ​​ Read 1 Peter 1:6-7. ​​ Why does God allow us to face trials? ​​ How does He rescue us?

  • What does God do with the wicked? ​​ What two things is He especially hard on? ​​ Why do you think this is true?

  • This section is still focused on the false teachers. ​​ How does Peter compare their pride with supernatural beings?

  • Prayer

    • Pray for discernment to be aware of false teachers and not to get deceived by them.

    • ​​ Pray for those you know who are still slaves to sin that they may come to know Christ.
