Small Group Questions​​  ​​ ​​​​ ​​ December​​ 24, 2023

The Uniqueness of the Birth of Christ​​ – The People Who Knew of His Birth  ​​​​ Luke 2:8-20; Mt. 2:1-11

  • Who knew of your birth when you were born?​​ How were people notified?

  • Read Luke 2:8-20.​​ 

  • Why do you think God would want these shepherds to know of Jesus’ birth?​​ What​​ is​​ the role of the shepherds in the Christmas story?

  • Read John 10:14-15. ​​ Do you think that the shepherds​​ role was connected to this announcement?​​ Why?

  • Read Matthew 2:1-11.​​ 

  • How do the wise men compare to the shepherds? ​​ How were they the same?​​ How were they different?

  • Read Psalm 72:10-11 and Isaiah 60:6. The bringing of gifts seems to be a key role of the wise men as a part of their worship.​​ How does this apply to us today?

  • Read 1 Timothy 3:15. How do the wise men point to a position of Jesus?

  • So many people missed Jesus’ birth. ​​ Those who came were few. ​​ What made the difference?

  • Read Jeremiah 29:13;​​ Hebrews 11:6; and James 4:8. What​​ is the key to finding God?​​ How does one do this?

  • Prayer

    • Tell the Lord​​ you’re​​ seeking Him. ​​ Thank Him for responding as you do.​​ 

    • Thank Him that all are welcome regardless of position.

    • Pray for others you know to seek Him.
