Let the Spirit Control Your Mind
Romans 8:1-13
Read Romans 7:24-25. Tim Keller states that before Christ, we were in a battle that we cannot win. In Christ, we are in a battle we cannot lose. What are your thoughts on those statements?
Read Romans 8:1-4. How can Paul say with confidence that there is no condemnation? What is the condemnation we no longer have?
What does the Spirit do that the law of Moses was unable to do? What did Jesus do to make this possible?
Read Romans 8:5-8. What difference does the way we think make? How can we think in a way that leads to life? How do you apply this in your own life?
Read Philippians 4:8. What do you do when your mind is “stuck” on the wrong things? What do you do to keep your mind thinking the right thoughts?
Read Romans 8:9-11. How do we receive the Spirit of God? What does the Spirit do in our lives?
How are you impacted by the statement that “the Spirit of God who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you”?
Read Romans 9:12-13. If we don’t have to follow our sinful nature, why do we? What is the result when we do?
How do we put to death the deeds of the sinful nature?
Prayer: Thank God for setting you free from any condemnation. Give the Spirit full control in your life.
