The Uniqueness of the Birth of Christ – The People Who Knew of His Birth Luke 2:8-20; Mt. 2:1-11
Who knew of your birth when you were born? How were people notified?
Read Luke 2:8-20.
Why do you think God would want these shepherds to know of Jesus’ birth? What is the role of the shepherds in the Christmas story?
Read John 10:14-15. Do you think that the shepherds’ role was connected to this announcement? Why?
Read Matthew 2:1-11.
How do the wise men compare to the shepherds? How were they the same? How were they different?
Read Psalm 72:10-11 and Isaiah 60:6. The bringing of gifts seems to be a key role of the wise men as a part of their worship. How does this apply to us today?
Read 1 Timothy 3:15. How do the wise men point to a position of Jesus?
So many people missed Jesus’ birth. Those who came were few. What made the difference?
Read Jeremiah 29:13; Hebrews 11:6; and James 4:8. What is the key to finding God? How does one do this?
